Pokemon Presents August 2023: All The Big Announcements
The second Pokemon Presents livestream of 2023 had plenty of announcements, and over the course of 35 minutes, The Pokemon Company provided updates on several mobile games, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Detective Pikachu Returns, and teased a new animated project. The Pokemon Company COO Takato Utsunomiya hosted the presentation, which also shined a light on the upcoming Pokemon World Championships taking place soon in Yokohama, Japan. Here’s all the big news that was announced during the livestream, including upcoming DLC, free Pokemon, and more.
Pokemon: Path to the Peak animation announced
With the Pokemon Trading Card Game being as popular as ever–and a McDonald’s collaboration allegedly on the way–an animated series based on the IRL collectible game was inevitable. Pokemon: Path to the Peak is a short animated series about Ava, a young girl who joins her local Pokemon TCG club. The first episode will premiere at the Pokemon World Championships on August 11 before it gets a global release.
Pokemon Go adds Paldea critters next month
Now in its seventh year, Niantic has big plans for Pokemon Go with several events, the debut of Diancie in the game, and the arrival of Paldean Pokemon like Quaxly, Fuecoco, and Sprigatito.
Two more classic Pokemon games are coming to Nintendo Switch Online
One of the best Game Boy Color experiences of 1998, Pokemon: The Trading Card Game, is being added to the Nintendo Switch Online library from August 8. Subscribers to the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack can also look forward to Pokemon Stadium 2, another classic from the N64 era.
Pokemon mobile game updates
For fans of the free-to-play Pokemon games, there’s no shortage of new content on the horizon. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s battle-hungry Nemona and Pawmot are headed to Pokemon Masters EX, Mewtwo joins the Pokemon Unite fray, Tatsugiri are coming to Pokemon Cafe Remix, and Pokemon Sleep has a Good Sleep Day full moon event in development.

You can grab Mew right now in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, while Mewtwo will arrive later in September. You’ll need to prepare for Mewtwo’s arrival, as The Pokemon Company teased a tough Tera Raid battle that will see your team pushed to the limit when facing this powerful Psychic-type clone of Mew. If you happen to have Mew in your party during this Tera Raid, something “special” will happen according to The Pokemon Company.
