Fortnite’s New OG Season Is Already Massively Popular
Developer Epic Games decided we need to go back to the first island, and Fortnite’s new OG season is proving that was the right call. At the time of publication, the battle royale’s in-game peak player count showed a tally of over 3.9 million people for today, November 3.
That’s a new record for Fortnite since Epic started showcasing player counts inside the game in March, according to Fortnite.GG. On top of that, Twitch viewership numbers for the battle royale game have hovered above 600,000 people throughout the day so far.
Fortnite OG arrived today and is initially based on Chapter 1, Season 5, which originally launched on July 12, 2018. That means the assault rifle and pump shotgun have returned to the game, along with fan-favorite locations like Tilted Towers and Paradise Palms. In a week on November 9, the new season will get an update based on Chapter 1, Season 6.
People have been clamoring for a return to Fortnite’s Chapter 1 map for years at this point, and the OG season makes that hope a reality. But it probably won’t last long, as this season is only supposed to last for a month.
