With Fortnitemares ongoing, we’re approaching the end of Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4. As with last year, we’re expecting a little something extra before we head to Chapter 6, though–a new iteration of Fortnite OG, now known as Fortnite Remix, will run for a month between the end of Chapter 5 and the beginning of Chapter 6. While Fortnite battle royale, Rocket Racing, Festival, and Lego all have plenty in store for this October’s spooky party, it’s already time to look ahead at the next big thing. Here’s everything we know about Fortnite Remix: Chapter 2 so far, including leaks, rumors, and a look at possible past seasons that will be involved.
When does Fortnite Remix: Chapter 2 start?
Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 is currently slated to wrap up late in the evening on Thursday, November 1 in the US. If all goes well, the game will go down for maintenance for several hours, and the new Remix season will start during the morning of November 2.
What should we expect from Fortnite Remix: Chapter 2?
This new version of Fortnite Remix is expected to cover the first several seasons of Chapter 2, which gradually built up to the big Marvel incursion in Season 4 back in 2020. Notably, Season 2 was the one that introduced Midas, and Season 3 was when the island flooded. Fortunately, this period was also when they added boats, and since boats have been missing for the entirety of Chapter 5, those will be a welcome sight should they return.
The state of the island will rapidly change over the course of the month, reflecting aspects of the island’s evolution over that year. And then, at the end of November, Remix Chapter 2 will wrap up with a live event that will usher in Chapter 6. Maybe this time it won’t completely reset the plot.
Fortnite Remix Chapter 2 Battle Pass
Last year’s 30-day OG pass was half the length of a normal battle pass, with four skins that were each hybrids of multiple existing skins from that era, and one set of super styles. We should expect something similar this time, too, since Remix will also last 30 days–and thanks to a handful of small teasers that Epic dropped on Friday, we have a pretty good idea of what skins will be on the new Remix pass.
Epic teased five new hybrid/remix skins in the short videos: a new version of 8-Ball who uses the yellow 1-ball for his head, hybrids like Meowscles x Midas, Skye x Guff and TNTina x Ocean, and a female version of Chaos Agent. That’s five skins, not four, and so it could be that one of these will be a shop skin like Raven Team Leader was last year. On the other hand, however, since they charged full price for half a pass last year, it wouldn’t be overly surprising if the Remix pass provided more value, especially if the items on this pass aren’t exclusive. Five skins or more is possible.
Fortnite Reload updates during Chapter 2 Remix
With a new retro-themed season on the way, you might be wondering how this will affect Reload, the recently launched permanent battle royale mode that includes automatic respawns. November 2 will mark the beginning of a new ranked season for Reload, and leakers indicate that Reload will add a second map that will rotate regular short intervals (it’s every half hour in Call of Duty Warzone) alongside the current one.
Fortnite Remix Chapter 2 collabs
Way back in the spring, a leaked roadmap for the remainder of 2024 emerged from the game’s hyperactive leaking community, and it proved to be largely true. And there’s only one item left from that roadmap that hasn’t happened yet: Fortnite Festival Season 6, headlined by Snoop Dogg. The new season of Festival will launch the same day as Remix Chapter 2 does, and so the first collab of this throwback season will be the OGest OG to ever join the Fortnite ranks.
The leak was confirmed this weekend when the first teaser image for the new season appeared in-game–it’s a gold image filled with the script S that belongs to Snoop Dogg. Epic swapped this image out for a plain gold one after half a day, but what’s done is done.
This pairing may not just be a thematic one–Remix Chapter 2 will reportedly add a low-rider hydraulics vehicle mod that will allow you to make the car jump. As Festival headliner, Snoop will likely get a skin in the Festival Pass, as well as one in the item shop. Last year’s OG Pass did not include any collab skins, so that may again be the case here, but it seems Festival will bring a special crossover of its own.
