PowerA’s New Modular Controller Works On Xbox, PC, And Android
PowerA is responsible for some of the most popular third-party controllers on the market–and it looks like one more might be joining the party. The Moga XP-Ultra is the latest gamepad to come out of the PowerA labs, offering support for both Xbox Series X and Xbox One, along with support for PC, Android, and select smart TVs.
The product is officially licensed by Microsoft, but what’s most intriguing about the gamepad is its modular design. All told, four different controller layouts are possible for the XP-Ultra, allowing you to play in compact mode while on the road or swap to a full layout when home. There’s even a mobile gaming clip that’s fully detachable, and the full-sized ergonomic grip that even offers rumble support.
The Moga XP-Ultra is a versatile controller with a great feel. When you attach the grip to give it a conventional controller look and feel, you gain two remappable back buttons. If you’re purely looking for an Xbox or PC controller, the XP-Ultra probably isn’t the controller for you. But if you’re an Android user with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, it’s a versatile option that works well across all platforms. In compact mode, the XP-Ultra is small enough to fit in your pocket.
Rounding out the package you’ll find two mappable buttons, a 2,000mAH battery for up to 40 hours of runtime in Bluetooth mode, a 3.5mm jack, USB-C port, and performance that’s engineered and optimized for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. PowerA is positioning the Moga XP-Ultra to be an all-in-one gamepad whether you’re at home or on the road.
The PowerA Moga XP-Ultra is now available for $130. The price is a bit steep, but with multiple use cases and solid performance, it’s worth considering for Xbox Cloud Gaming and mobile gaming in general.
