Diablo Immortal Is Celebrating Its One-Year Anniversary By Throwing A Party For Diablo 4
Diablo Immortal is turning one June 2, and Blizzard is looking to celebrate the game’s first anniversary by reminding players that they could be playing Diablo IV instead (be sure to read our Diablo 4 review).
Blizzard has announced that a Diablo IV launch celebration event will arrive in Diablo Immortal in early June, around the same time Diablo IV arrives. Though additional details haven’t been released, it will revolve around an event titled Merciless Monstrosity and add a Lilith-themed battle pass into the free-to-play mobile ARPG. It will additionally introduce the Hatred’s Heritage Phantom Market, all of which Blizzard says will be “experienceable expressions of Sanctuary’s matriarch.”
But while the Diablo IV crossover event may seem like it’s encouraging players to step away from Diablo Immortal to experience the new main entry in the franchise, Diablo Immortal will be receiving something Diablo IV won’t likely have for quite some time: a brand-new class.
Blizzard has long confirmed that Diablo Immortal would receive new classes as part of the game’s free updates, but fans finally know when the first one is coming. In July, Blizzard will introduce what it is teasing as a “monstrous” new class that “bleeds new blood into the Diablo universe.” The developer’s teases (and a shadowy teaser image) certainly line up with previously datamined character models and weapons that pointed towards a new vampire-esque, blood-themed class called the Blood Knight being introduced.
Last but not least, Blizzard has announced that a mid-June update for Diablo Immortal will continue the game’s main story, along the way introducing a new zone called the Ancients’ Cradle. There players will encounter a new PvP event, enemies, side quests, and more.
Diablo Immortal won’t be the only Blizzard title to receive a Diablo IV crossover event. World of Warcraft also looks to be getting in on the Diablo action, with a number of Diablo-themed items set to come to Blizzard’s long-running MMORPG.
Recent updates to Diablo Immortal have introduced new activities like fishing and a PvP-focused tower defense mode. Diablo IV arrives June 6 (or June 2 for those who preorder the deluxe or ultimate editions of the game), and features cross-play and cross-progression between consoles and PC.
