Everything New In Fortnite OG – Chapter 4 Season 5 Update Revealed
Fortnite OG is finally here. Following years of wishcasting, months of rumors, and days of teases, Fortnite’s new season is actually going back to the Chapter 1 map, with weapons, skins, and more to complete the nostalgic look. Once believed to be a pipe dream, the Fortnite fervor for Chapter 1 finally won over Epic Games.
The changes are vast, but the season, as previously, rumored, is short. At just one month long, Fortnite OG includes lots of changes that are atypical for a Fortnite season launch. For one, the shorter season means a smaller battle pass, officially called the OG Pass, which includes 50 tiers of throwback rewards, as opposed to the usual 100+.
Secondly, the update cadence is much more frequent. Rather than adding one or two new items each week or two, the battle royale island and loot will drastically change each week to reflect different eras of Chapter 1 Seasons 5 through X (10). Some items will persist for multiple updates or even the full season, while others may cycle out after just one week.
The Fortnite OG Shop will also reintroduce older and rare cosmetics like skins and gliders, as well as some reimagined items that mash-up past characters and some brand-new items, too. These shop items are said to be rare, so it may be worth checking the shop each day if you’re interested in getting some of the game’s most uncommon cosmetics.

Fortnite OG weapons and loot pool
This one-month season will have more loot pool changes than ever before, with each week introducing a new hotfix that drastically alters the loot to reflect different seasons from Chapter 1. Here’s how the schedule will work, with the wording coming directly from Epic:
- Season 5 launch day update: Loot includes the Shopping Cart, All Terrain Kart, Damage Trap, Grappler, and Boogie Bomb, and more.
- November 9 Hotfix – Season 6 update: Loot includes the Quadcrasher, Mounted Turret, Six Shooter, Chiller Trap, and more.
- November 16 Hotfix – Seasons 7 & 8 update: Loot includes the X-4 Stormwing and Pirate Cannon, Buried Treasure, and more.
- November 23 Hotfix – Seasons 9 & X update: Loot includes the Proximity Grenade Launcher, Air Strike, Junk Rift, Storm Flip, Jetpack, and more.

Fortnite OG map changes
Naturally, the map changes this season are a big deal. Players have clamored for a return to Chapter 1 for years, and now their persistent wishes have been granted. Like the hotfix schedule detailed above, which will reimagine the weapons and loot each week, so too will the map change at a frantic pace.
With the season launch today, the island resembles Chapter 1 Season 5’s version, but it will shift to Season 6’s map next week, with more changes to follow. If you played during Chapter 1, the change is surely nostalgic, while new players will be dropping in like it’s a whole new world.

Fortnite OG Pass
The Fortnite OG Pass is the name of this season’s battle pass. With a shorter train of rewards and fewer skins, the changes may seem odd to newer players, though veteran Fortnite players may find the lineup of four skins more familiar. This season’s pass includes the following skins, from left to right in the image:
- Lil Split
- Spectra Knight
- Omegarok
- Renegade Lynx
Along with those new heroes, dozens more cosmetics can be found in the pass, such as loading screens, back bling, gliders, and all the other typical Fortnite flair. The pass does still cost 950 V-Bucks, which may put some players off given the fewer total rewards, though it’s worth noting that a subscription to Fortnite Crew for just one month ($11) would get you both the OG Pass and the next battle pass, slated for the end of November, which is expected to be Chapter 5 Season 1.

Fortnite OG Shop
Fortnite players love a rare item, and this season will be full of them in the in-game shop, now called the OG Shop. Featuring hard-to-find cosmetics from years past, mash-ups that span Fortnite history (much like the OG Pass skins), and some totally new ideas, the daily shop updates are said to hold a lot of rare cosmetics for players into that sort of thing.
We also know from recent leaks that Stranger Things’ Eleven and Steve Harrington are getting their own Fortnite skins, which may also signal the long-awaited return of the Sheriff Hopper and Demogorgon skins, which remain some of the rarest in the game’s history.
Secret XP Gnomes
Fortnite OG has brought about the return of secret XP gnomes, with 10 of them to be found across the Chapter 1 map. Use our guide to locate all 10 and earn 20,000 XP each time.
Fortnite Ranked changes and free back bling
If you’re the type who likes to sweat it out in ranked lobbies, the mode is getting some changes this season to account for the shorter runtime. You’ll now rank up faster, meaning your climb to Unreal rank is tuned for the one-month season.
Also, players who complete Ranked Urgent Quests can earn brand-new Ranked cosmetic rewards, including the Ranker’s Tags back bling for completing just one such quest, with more items available as players progress.
