Pokemon Go October 2024 Events: Raids, Spotlight Hours, Community Day, And More

Pokemon Go is continuing its new Max Out season in October with a variety of events and Pokemon debuts lined up over the next few weeks. In addition to new raid bosses, more Galar Pokemon are set to arrive in the game this month, including Dynamax forms of Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble.

That’s not all that’s happening in October, however. Pokemon Go is also celebrating Halloween with some spooky Spotlight Hours and its annual Halloween event, which will take place over two weeks this year. Read on for a full look at all the biggest events happening in Pokemon Go this month.

October Raid Schedule

A handful of new Pokemon will be appearing in raids throughout October. All month long, you’ll have a chance to encounter Dynamax versions of Grookey, Scorbunny, Sobble and Falinks in Max Battles, while Zamazenta, Origin Forme Giratina, and Darkrai will make encore appearances in five-star raids.

Mega Raids, meanwhile, will get into the Halloween spirit with the return of Mega Blaziken, Mega Sableye, and Mega Banette, while Shadow Entei will be appearing in special Shadow Raids every weekend this month.

October Spotlight Hours

Pokemon Go’s Spotlight Hour events continue in October with new Pokemon to catch and bonuses to earn.

Every Tuesday evening this month from 6-7 PM local time, a particular species of Pokemon will be appearing in the wild much more frequently than usual, and the game will give out an extra bonus for participating in the event, such as double candy or XP for catching Pokemon.

Galarian Expedition

Pokemon Go is kicking October off with a Galarian Expedition event from October 4-11. As part of the event, the legendary Pokemon Zamazenta will return to five-star raids, and this time around you’ll have your first opportunity to catch a shiny one.

On top of that, you’ll have a chance of encountering shiny versions of Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, and Galarian Moltres when you use your Daily Adventure Incense. There will also be event-themed Field Research tasks and Collection Challenges to complete, as well as a paid Masterwork Research quest to earn a Master Ball.

The nefarious Team Go Rocket will rear their heads once again and launch another takeover partway through the event. From October 8-11, Team Go Rocket grunts will be appearing at PokeStops and flying over the map in balloons more frequently, and they’ll have a new batch of Shadow Pokemon in their possession. The game will also roll out a new Special Research story that culminates in a battle with Giovanni and a chance to rescue Shadow Heatran.

Sewaddle Community Day

This month’s Community Day takes place on Saturday, October 5, and stars the bug/grass Pokemon Sewaddle. From 2-5 PM local time, Sewaddle will be appearing more frequently in the wild, and you’ll have an increased chance of encountering a shiny version.

After the event concludes, Sewaddle’s evolved form, Swadloon, will be appearing in bonus four-star raids from 5-10 PM local time. Each Swadloon that you evolve into Leavanny on the day of the event will also learn a special move upon evolving: the ghost-type Fast Attack Shadow Claw.

Finally, a few bonuses will be available during October’s Community Day. As usual, any incense or Lure Modules that you use will last for three hours rather than their usual durations. On top of that, you’ll earn double candy for catching Pokemon, while eggs will hatch at a quarter of the distance they typically require.

Mega Mawile Raid Day

Pokemon Go is hosting a special Mega Mawile Raid Day on October 12.

From 2-5 PM local time, Mega Mawile will be appearing in gyms as a raid boss, making this your first opportunity to get one in the game. On top of that, developer Niantic is temporarily increasing the Remote Raid limit to 20 from October 11-12, and players can receive up to six free Raid Passes by spinning the Photo Discs at gyms during the event.

Magnetic Study

Pokemon Go’s Max Out season continues with a Magnetic Study event from October 15-17.

During the event, any Magnetic Lure Modules that you place at a PokeStop will be more likely to attract certain electric-type Pokemon, and you’ll have an increased chance of encountering shiny versions of Magnemite, Plusle, and Minun.

Additionally, new Timed Research tasks will be available each day of the event. Completing these will earn you a variety of rewards, including additional encounters with the featured event Pokemon. A different bonus will be active each day of the event as well. You can see the bonuses below:

Yamask Research Day

Pokemon Go’s next Research Day event takes place on October 19 and focuses on Yamask and Galarian Yamask.

From 2-5 PM local time, you can complete new event-themed Research tasks that lead to encounters with the two featured ghost Pokemon. A handful of Pokemon such as Cubone, Galarian Zigzagoon, and Duskull will also be appearing more frequently in the wild during the event, and there will be a new paid Timed Research ticket that offers more chances to catch Yamask and Galarian Yamask.

Halloween 2024, Part 1

Pokemon Go is closing out October with its annual Halloween extravaganza. The first part of the event runs from October 22-28, and it introduces two new Pokemon to the game: Morpeko and Dynamax Gastly.

On top of that, a variety of spooky Pokemon will be appearing in the wild and as raid bosses throughout the event, including Misdreavus, Zorua, and Greavard. The game will also offer a free Timed Research quest focusing on Spiritomb, as well as paid Timed Research tickets that include encounters with special costume-wearing Pokemon.

The in-game style shop will add a handful of new avatar items for the event as well, including a Morpeko onesie and a Woobat top hat. In addition, a remix of the infamous Lavender Town theme will play at night throughout the event.
