Resident Evil 2 Remake Is Coming To iOS And Mac

In 2019, Capcom released the remake of Resident Evil 2, which took the classic PS1-era survival-horror title to new heights. Now, five years later, iPhone, iPad, and Mac users will finally get their chance to play Resident Evil 2 on their chosen devices.

Resident Evil 2’s remake was largely faithful to the story of the original title, while modernizing other aspects of the gameplay including the over-the-shoulder third-person perspective of the player’s character. There are two intersecting narratives following Claire Redfield–the sister of RE 1 hero Chris Redfield–and a rookie cop named Leon S. Kennedy as they try to survive a zombie outbreak in Raccoon City. One of the primary innovations of the remake was Mr. X, a nearly invulnerable genetic monster who relentlessly pursues the player’s character throughout the game.

This isn’t the first RE title to make it on to Apple’s devices. Resident Evil: Village, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, and the Resident Evil 4 remake have also been ported over. In fact, RE4’s remake and Village are both more recent titles than RE2’s remake.

The prologue for Resident Evil 2 can be downloaded for free on Apple’s App Store. But gamers who want to experience the full game on Apple’s platforms are going to have to wait until later this year to dive into one of the best Resident Evil games.
